Similar projections
This is a parent projection for the Snyder equal-area tetrahedron, the great circle equal-area tetrahedron, and the small circle equal-area tetrahedron, all of which resemble each other.
Origin
The methodology of one the variants was presented by John Snyder in 1992; the icosohedral version of that is commonly referred to now as the ISEA, or icosahedral Snyder equal-area. The small-circle and great-circle variants (see separate listings) are due to Dietrich van Leeuven, 2006.
