Meridians: Central meridian is straight. Other meridians are circular, equally spaced along the equator and concave toward the central meridian.
Parallels: Equator is straight. Other parallels are circular, equally spaced on the central meridian and concave toward the nearest pole.
Poles: Points.
Symmetry: About the central meridian or the equator.

Scale

True along the central meridian and the equator.

Distortion

Great distortion of area near the 180th meridians at higher latitudes.

Other features

The 90th meridians form a complete circle.

Usage

World maps, but rarely.

Similar projections

Eisenlohr is conformal.
August epicycloidal is conformal.
