A perspective projection developed specifically for showing the full lunar face visible from Earth.

Meridians: Central meridian is straight. Other meridians are complex curves in the equatorial form in which it is used.
Parallels: Equator is straight. Other parallels are complex curves in the equatorial form in which it is used.

This projection is a specialization of the far-side perspective.

Origin

Developed by Albert L. Nowicki for the U.S. Army Map Service, announced by The Military Engineer in 1961, with Nowicki mentioned in 1962.
