Meridians: Straight, evenly spaced, 50.4% the length of the parallels.
Parallels: Straight, with variable spacing.

Scale

Scale is correct along 37°24′N/S parallels and constant along all parallels.

Distortion

Free of distortion along the 37°24′N/S parallels and constant along all parallels.

Similar projections

This is a specialization of the cylindric equal-area projection, arranged to present the United States with low distortion.
Very similar to Hobo-Dyer.
