What is a projection?

Previous | Next

Dietrich-Hammer homotopy

Parameters: Initial projection, Weight of terminal projection, Parallel curvature 0 << W ≤ 1.0

Classifications

lenticular
equal-area

Graticule

Symmetry: About the central meridian and the equator.

Scale

Dependent on parameterization.

Distortion

Dependent on parameterization.

Parameters

Initial projection: Choose one of Hammer or Dietrich-Kitada.
Weight of terminal projection: The weighting given the projection not chosen as the initial projection.
Parallel curvature: The parallel curvature parameter from the Hammer projection. Its effect depends on interaction with the other parameters.

Similar projections

Dietrich-Kitada is one limiting form of this projection.
Hammer is one limiting form of this projection.

Origin

Developed by Daniel “daan” Strebe in 2018. The projection provides a continuum of equal-area projections between the Dietrich-Kitada projection and the Hammer projection.
