National Geographic’s "Mapping the Oceans"

Somehow I neglected to post this when it came out. About two years ago I wrote some custom projections for Geocart in order to create the cels for this animation. There is some rigorous map projection work going on. For example, the transitions between equal-area projections are themselves all equal-area.
