I have shut down access to bots and guests. Unfortunately, this will prevent indexing by search engines, but I don’t have a good way to know whether search engines are just acting as search engines or if, for example, Google’s indexing also happens to be their Gemini scraper.
Anyway, I think this is a better solution than just shutting down the site. I will periodically open the forums back up to the public or experiment with finer-grained settings.
